SNOBSKI has never understood the phrase “a quick lunch”.
He follows the first good snow, the opening of the terrace and the suggestion of another week by the sea. His suitcase is remarkably cooperative.
He has missed flights. Extended lunches. And, on occasion, the point. Somehow, somebody has always saved his seat.
The mountains. The club. The coast. The addresses change. His expectations travel with him.
Our world follows him: clothes for the long way home, familiar little objects and one quietly absurd duck in perfectly lovely surroundings. Well dressed. Comfortably spoiled. Difficult to rush.
There is affection in the joke. You might recognise a friend. You might recognise yourself.
